    Great for Mantra chanting, meditation, and yoga. Please note that each bead will have one or more small dents, which are called moons. This is a characteristic of natural star and moon Bodhi beads. The shade of the brown dye used to dye the beads and the shape might vary slightly due to the nature of Bodhi beads.
    Bead Size: Around 7mm (Measured with a caliper; The size may vary due to the nature of the seeds.); When you smash it open, the Bodhi seed has black spots on white natural seed resin. Please search for Seeds Used for Bodhi beads in China and there is an article on the National Library of Medicine with the exact same Bodhi beads. It is in picture Figure C.
    Length: 28 Inches; Elastic String: Can be used as a necklace or a wrap bracelet;
    The charm is removable. You can put it anywhere you want on the mala.
    These bodhi beads are known as star and moon Bodhi beads. Star and moon Bodhi beads are Daemonorops seeds. Tibetans call Daemonorops seeds Bodhi beads. The origin is from the tropical areas in South China, Indonesia, and India. These beads are commonly used to make Tibetan malas. When the color is white before being dyed brown, they are also called lotus root, lotus seeds, or linen nuts. The beads are very hard and dense. The small holes on the beads are called moons and the tiny black spots covering the surface are called stars. These seeds have the highest density of resin. The wood-like inside texture is solid and dense. We have included a photo of a smashed bead in the photos to the left. The beads are handcrafted and dyed. Imperfections may exist due to the handmade nature.

Product Description Tibetan Bodhi Beads Dyed Brown Daemonorops Seeds Prayer Beads Mala Necklace Wrap Bracelet

This unique wrap around bracelet is made from Bodhi beads. There are many kinds of bodhi beads. This kind is called 'star and moon' Bodhi beads. The inside texture of the seeds is dense and solid with small black spots. It can be used as a rosary, Tibetan prayer beads, and it can be worn by girls, women, boys, or men. The string of this mala is elastic. It can wrap around your wrist up to five times. These prayer beads are perfect not only as a jewelry piece but also as a mala, a necklace, a bracelet and a tool in meditation or yoga. Malas come in strings of specific numbers of beads for mantra counting, such as: 18, 27, 54 or 108 beads. There are often smaller accent beads, typically of a different color or material, to help the practitioner keep their place while moving through the mala, but the accent beads are to be skipped over during meditation and are used as place-holders which are not counted in the total number of beads on the mala. There is a guru bead at the end of the mala, and this bead is typically larger than the other beads. The larger guru bead helps you know when you have made one rotation around the mala.

Beautiful high-quality beads with a sweet charm

Love my Tibetan prayer beads, even though I had specifically requested the Om sign and instead they shipped me the tree of life, oh well. They are a high quality bead and the blue mixed in with the rest of the browns makes it so beautiful. I didn't count to see if all 108 are there - I know some reviewers had fussed about that but to me, it's perfect as it is. My only little annoyance is that it's a wee bit small for my neck - and I'm a relatively small person with a small neck - so if you wear it as a double instead of a single necklace, and the same with bracelet, it's either a wee bit too tight or too short depending on how many times I wrap it around, but I can't help loving these beads.

Good for use with chanting

I received these beads and they were what I expected so the picture provided is accurate. Thus, I knew when ordering that the beads would be smaller than those found on other malas. The quality of the beads are average but that's okay too. I just need something to help me keep count when I chant. I did notice that a few of the reviews indicate that there are extra beads. I also was concerned about the extra beads because when chanting, it has to be precise. I've now learned, according to a practicing Buddhist, that this mala is accurate because the blue beads are considered 'spacer' beads and shouldn't be counted when chanting. There are 27 beads between the spacer beads (4 sets) so that makes it an accurate 108 beads. I hope this review helps.

Extra Beads but Still Great!
By Craig Choute on November 24, 2014

Not complaining, but my prayer beads came with 113 beads instead of 108...I guess it's a bonus if some of the beads end up broken or lost, it was no concern of mine. But for those of you making the purchase for the spiritual significance of the number 108, you may need to make some adjustments. Overall it's of great quality.

I wear them almost every day

This has become my go-to wrap bracelet. I wear it to work, and when I get a particularly troublesome patron, I glance at the beads, run my hands over a few and breathe. It's a sort of reminder to have patience with impatient people.

It's very pretty, too.
